Now that I'm retired, I have time and energy (most days) to be a blessing to others. DSK is a special ministry, providing a safety net for those who need a leg up. Food insecurity is a significant issue here in Charlotte. When I volunteer, I feel like I’m one more strand of the safety net that supports those in need.

The joy of working with good, fun, and all ‘round awesome people with a shared mission goes without saying. An even more valuable reward is the connection and deeper understanding of those we serve – people struggling to survive some incredibly tough times in their lives…those who I once, sadly, might have avoided or disregarded. It has been enlightening. The struggles are real.
