OUR MISSION

The Dilworth Soup Kitchen & Food Pantry is a nonprofit soup kitchen and food pantry striving to combat food insecurity in our community. We provide free, nutritious meals as well as free groceries to our neighbors in need every week of the year, regardless of their circumstances. We treat everyone with dignity and respect, setting no requirements and with no questions asked.

DILWORTH SOUP KITCHEN WELCOMES PAUL FINNEN TO DSK BOARD, THANKS GARY PARKS, RE-ELECTS EXECUTIVE BOARD

CHARLOTTE … The Dilworth Soup Kitchen & Food Pantry voted to add Paul Finnen to its board of directors at its February 28 meeting and accepted the resignation of Gary Parks. The board also voted to re-elect its five-person executive board.

Quick Facts

  • Dilworth Soup Kitchen was established in 2008 to help feed the hungry in our community.

  • We are now a Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry, serving 200+ free takeout lunches every Monday and Friday of the year from 11 a.m. until noon.

  • In 2023, we served more than 21,000 healthy lunches, distribute 20,000 pounds of fresh groceries and 40,000 pounds of non-perishable foods.

  • We are located at First Christian Church, 1200 East Blvd, Charlotte, NC.

  • Everyone is welcome, no requirements, no charge, and no questions asked.

  • We also provide fresh groceries and non-perishable foods to our guests weekly to help sustain them until they can return for their next meal.

  • The demographics of our guests vary from children to adults and range from those experiencing homelessness, the working poor, low income seniors and the disabled.

  • We have expanded our services and guests can now make an appointment to shop for groceries in our Food Pantry the first and third Wednesday of every month.

  • Through our outreach program we deliver lunches to those citizens living in area housing projects who are unable to come to us.

  • We are operated by volunteers with no paid full-time staff. All donations go directly to feeding the hungry.

  • We have local community partners who contribute to our mission by making donations of an assortment of food.
